Jordi Alba Retires From International Football

Jordi Alba has retired from international football few months after winning UEFA Nations League with Spain, MySportDab reports.

Regarded as one of the most prolific left backs of his generation, Alba was a Barcelona legend, taking his club career to epic heights, including his national team career.

He won all possible club trophies at Barcelona from Laliga, Copa Del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, Champions Leagues, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

According to reports, his retirement is not coming as a shock to the coaching crew of Spain national team as he has reportedly informed high-profile members of the crew of his imminent retirement decision ‘several weeks ago,’ including Luis de La Fuente, Spain men’s national team coach.

Jordi Alba made his Spain national team debut in 2011 against Scotland and has went on to win 93 caps with the team, scoring nine goals and winning a number of trophies.

He won the 2012 Euros with the team before recently clinching UEFA Nations League in June this year as his second trophy with the team.

Jordi Alba’s retirement is coming few months after he called time on his Barcelona career after 11 years with the club to take up a new challenge in the MLS.

The Barcelona and Spain football legend joined two other Barcelona legends – Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets – to turn the narrative around at Inter Miami and the MLS.

Alba is on a one-year contract with Inter Miami with a club option to extend the deal by one more year till 2025.

He has been prolific for the Florida-based club joining Messi and Sergio Busquets to return Inter Miami to winning ways and also lead the team to their first ever silverware.

The Spanish superstar will be hoping to focus on his club career with Inter Miami following his decision to hang the boots on international scene.
