Mason Greenwood’s Manchester United return is at the corner as a plan has been reportedly unveiled for his return, MySportDab reports.
Greenwood has not tasted action with Manchester United for over a year following a rape allegation by his girlfriend Harriet Robson.
In 2022, series of social media footage surfaced with Harriet Robson, claiming she was sexually assaulted and abused by Mason Greenwood.
The allegation led to the arrest of Mason Greenwood and prosecution.
Following his arrest, Manchester United suspended him from the squad as judicial process took center stage.
However, in a shock move by prosecutors handling the case, all charges against Mason Greenwood were dropped and he regained his freedom.
Manchester United have refused to integrate him back to the squad after allegations were dropped as the club insist on undertaking an internal investigation to unravel undissolved issues about the rape saga before bringing him back.
Also, there were reports of some section of Manchester United fans, especially Manchester United female fans, who does not want Mason Greenwood back.
Also, the club had to take into consideration the commercial consequences of having Mason Greenwood back and had reportedly met with their commercial partners to that effect.
With the 2023/24 season set to kick off, there are strong indications Manchester United are set bring back Mason Greenwood to the squad.
Now, according to The Athletic, Manchester United have considered a multi-stage plan for Mason Greenwood’s return to the team as they get ready to take a decision.
The multi-stage plan involves Mason Greenwood undergoing counselling first and then he will be made to appear before a televised interview where he will tell the world what happened pertaining the alleged rape saga.
Manchester United Chief Executive Richard Arnold is said to be man who will take the ultimate decision on Mason Greenwood’s future with all fingers crossed.
Meanwhile, Manchester United female players have issued a lengthy statement asking the club to respect the traditions of the club and the fans by not bringing Mason Greenwood back.
They are reportedly planning multi protests during Manchester United’s opening game against Wolves to voice their concern.
