Pep Guardiola is set to miss Premier League matches as he has been flown out of Manchester for emergency operation, MySportDab reports

The Manchester City manager, who oversaw a triumphant and most successful season with Manchester City last season, is now in Spain based on reports from multiple sources.

Guardiola reportedly suffered a back injury that will have him miss some Premier League matches before returning to Manchester City dugout.

Manchester City club statement confirmed Pep Guardiola was flown out of Manchester to Barcelona in Spain for surgery.

As captured by City’s club statement, it was an emergency medical condition which took everyone unawares.

Pep Guardiola has been with Manchester City throughout the preseason and was at the dugout in Manchester City’s opening Premier League matches against Burnley and Newcastle United.

He was expected to return to the dugout in the next Premier League clash against Sheffield United before the sudden back injury occured requiring an immediate medical attention.

Precisely, Pep Guardiola will miss the next two matches for Manchester City against Sheffield United and Fulham according to SkySports.

His assistant manager is expected to take charge at the dugout ahead of Guardiola’s return as City look to continue in their winning start to the season.

As of the time of filing this report, it has been confirmed Guardiola is in a very good condition and has successfully undergone the surgical operation.

He will now undergo rehabilitation under the watch of Barcelona medical staff before returning back to action with Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola signed a new two-year contract with Manchester City last summer and will stay at the club till 2025 when his contract will expire.
