The Premier League have announced the winner for August Save of the Month with Alisson Becker’s incredible stop against Newcastle United winning the award, MySportDab reports.
It was a rollercoaster in the opening month of the 2023-24 campaign with a number of big saves earmarked for the award.
High-profile Premier League goalkeepers made sensational saves that either keep their teams in the game or maintained a lead.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was on top of his game for the Reds, producing an astonishing save that kept Liverpool up in the month.
Tottenham new goalkeeper and Hugo Loris replacement, Gugliemo Vicario was also in sensational form for Spurs, including England and Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford.
Vicario helped Tottenham salvaged a big win over Manchester United, producing a stunning save against Casemiro’s thunderbolt to deny the Red Devils a goal.
Another goalkeeper, who also made wave in the month was Mark Flekken after his brilliant stop against Crystal Palace.
Wolves’ Jose Sai was also in top shape for Wolves in the month with a fine save that got him nominated for the award.
Areola Alphonse of West Ham United was another goalkeeper that was sensational for West Ham in the month, producing a fine save against Brighton.
Liverpool’s Becker made the day for Liverpool against Newcastle United producing a stunning save that kept 10-man Liverpool at St James Park against the Magpies.
Becker’s save has won the Premier League Goal fo the Month of August Award and rightly so after his superb stop.
Almiron nearly scored for Newcastle United, firing a thunderbolt inside the box but Becker dived and punched it off in the crossbar before punching the rebound away while on the ground.
