The 26-year-old striker had concluded the 2022/23 season on a high note, netting six goals in his last four matches to aid Nottingham Forest in avoiding relegation.
Eager to continue his impressive form into the new season, Awoniyi began the campaign in spectacular fashion.
Although he was unable to start Nottingham Forest’s season opener against Arsenal due to fitness concerns, Awoniyi emerged from the bench to score a consolation goal in a 2-1 loss.
