CAF has snubbed Nigeria to name host for 2025 and 2027 AFCON earlier today, MySportDab reports.
Nigeria and Benin were said to have made a joint bid for the 2027 tournament but their effort was turned down by CAF.
CAF has confirmed the host Nations ahead of the 2025 and 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The announcement was made today in a meeting which later saw an announcement made via social media.
Nigeria was expected to see their joint bid with Benin accepted, but the case wasn’t meant to happen for them.
CAF made the announcement which saw them giving Morocco hosting rights for the 2025 competition.
They also gave the likes of Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda the hosting for the 2027 edition.
It was earlier claimed that the Federal government gave its back for Nigeria’s bid which unfortunately fell through.
No reason was stated but with the situation going on with Nigeria FA, it could be the major reason for the snub.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be taking part in the next Nations Cup which will be happening early next year 2024.
Despite the country not landing the right to host the tournament, they are hoping to land the AFCON title next year which wont be easy.
