Arsenal have defeated Brentford to qualify for the next round of the EFL Cup, MySportDab reports.

It was a cagey start for the two sides but the Gunners had a slight advantage with possession as they dominated proceedings.

The two sides matched each other with pace and attacking flair recording several attempts but Arsenal seemed more threatening when advancing forward with the ball.

Eight minutes into the game, Reiss Nelson scored Arsenal’s opener thanks to an assist from Eddie Nketiah.

The game then took on a more frantic pace after Arsenal took the lead as Brentford ramped up attempts to find an equaliser.

Despite leading by a lone goal, Arsenal were still dominant with possession and were making attempts to double the lead and secure the win but Brentford held off the pressure and were also struggling to level the score before the first half break.

In the second half, Arsenal still continued with their more dominant display but also struggled to stop Brentford when the home side break out on counters.

The second half dragged on with both sides unable to make anything happen but Arsenal were still leading by a lone goal.

Brentford made concerted late efforts to nailed home an equaliser but were contained by a solid Arsenal defense line.

Arsenal also maintained their threat upfront when breaking in attack but could not add to the tally as well.

The match ended with Arsenal running away with a narrow 1-0 win to eliminate Brentford from EFL Cup and progress to the next round of the competition.
