Netherlands has secured an emphatic 2024 Euro qualifiers over Greece, MySportDab reports.
The Netherlands took a major step towards qualifying for Euro 2024 as they overpowered Greece in Eindhoven. Denzel Dumfries was the standout performer for the Dutch, scoring one goal and setting up another.
The Netherlands started the game brightly and took the lead in the 17th minute through Cody Gakpo. The PSV Eindhoven winger cut in from the left and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.
Dumfries doubled the Dutch lead in the 37th minute with a superb header from a corner. The Inter Milan defender rose highest to power a header past the Greek goalkeeper.
After Dumfries’s goal, it was game over for the Greeks as they struggle to pull strong promising display despite going down by two unreplied goals.
The Netherlands continued to dominate after the break and sealed the victory in the 77th minute through Marten de Roon. The Atalanta midfielder fired home from close range after good work by Steven Bergwijn.
It was a deserved victory of the clinical Dutch side, who left no stone unturned in taking control of the proceedings and eking out the victory.
The win leaves the Netherlands top of Group G with 12 points from four games. They are five points clear of second-placed Norway, and will hope to continue in winning ways in the their next game.
