It was an incredible scene at the Molineux as Manchester City faced what could be regarded as their toughest test to their Premier League campaign this season.
Wolves rolled back a dismal start to the campaign and EFL Cup defeat to Ipswich to take Manchester City to the cleaners at Molineux against expectations.
Manchester City dominated proceedings from the start as expected but conceded first early in in the first half no thanks to Ruben Dias’ own goal.
Dias attempted to clear a cross by Neto with a slide but ended up diverting the cross into his own net to give Wolves the lead.
Manchester City mounted intense pressure to restore parity but were held off by the brink wall defense of the hosts.
Despite coming under intense pressure, Wolves held onto the narrow lead at the interval.
City ramped up their attempt for an equaliser in the second half but could not make anything happen until the 58th minute when Julian Alvarez fired a set-piece into the top corner to score the equaliser for the visitors.
City continued to dominate proceedings with the game in the balance but were dealt another blow late in the 66th minute when Hwang scored from close range to restore Wolves’ lead.
Wolves sat back to defend the goal again after taking the lead but were coming under more pressure by City who were desperate to find another equaliser with few minutes left to play.
Wolves survived late attempts by City to finally ran out with a win, ending Manchester City’s unbeaten run.
