The injury situation of five Manchester United players has been confirmed ahead of the club’s trip to Burnley, MySportDab reports.
United will take on new-ly promoted side Burnley in a make or break Premier League clash at Turf Moor today.
It has been a surreal start for Erik Ten Hag as the club have managed only two wins in their first five games with three defeats.
Pundits have already axed out the club from the Premier League title race after their abysmal start to the campaign for the first time in over decades no thanks to a crippling injury crisis that has left scores of first team players on the sidelines.
Fast-rising youngster Kobbie Mainoo, who was tipped to play a big role in the team this season after an impressive preseason campaign, was among the first set of players to be consigned to the sidelines after a deadly ankle injury in preseason friendly against Real Madrid
Amad Diallo also joined the piling injury list during preseason after impressing in preseason.
Some big-name first team players, who are also on the sidelines include Tom Heaton, new signing from Chelsea, Mason Mount, French defender, Raphael Varane, English defender, Luke Shaw, Dutch defender, Tyrell Malacia, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Fiorentina loanee, Sofyan Amrabat.
Amid the piling injury woes, United’s game against Burnley will be a make or mar clash for Ten Hag as he will be coming under pressure to salvage nothing less from all three points against the 2022/23 Championship winners.
Speaking ahead of the game, Erik Ten Hag has confirmed the injury situation of four Man United players.
Here is what he said:
“Maybe, as you say, Harry Maguire – We will see better after training [on Friday afternoon].
But Varane will train and we will see. Amrabat, he will train and we will see. Mount, as well, but they all didn’t play for a short or longer term. Varane, obviously, was the shortest [time] out.”
Manchester United are currently 13th in the Premier League table with six points and will hope to wave aside the nightmare start to the campaign with a win against Burnley.
