Manchester United have issued another statement on Antony as the assault allegation deepens, MySportDab reports.
Antony’s former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin had on June 6 reported Antony to Brazil Police with claims the Manchester United winger assaulted her while they were still dating.
The celebrity DJ made weighty allegations on the Manchester United winger citing instances she lost her pregnancy, breast implant, and suffer severe cuts and injuries due to Antony’s alleged brutal assault.
Gabriela backed up her claims with audio and video footage of the alleged assault but Antony has denied the accusations.
Both Brazil and Manchester prosecutors are in parallel investigations to determine the truth of Cavallin’s claim.
Manchester United have been pressured to suspend Antony after Brazil FA suspended the player following allegations
The club have issued a statement annoucing their awareness of the assault claims but said will not comment further pending the outcome of investigations.
Following United’s decision not to suspend Antony amid investigations, they have been accused of trying to cover up the assault allegations.
In one of the incidents of the alleged abuse, Cavallin’s lawyer claimed Manchester United sent a player support officer to arrange for private doctor to treat Gabriela Cavallin.
They insisted Manchester blocked attempt to treat Gabriela Cavallin in a hospital to cover evidence of the assault.
Now, Manchester United have issued another statement through the club’s spokesperson that the club did not cover up the incident.
Manchester United described the allegations as ‘categorically false,’ and it was not a club doctor that treated Gabriela Cavallin.
“Any suggestion that the club covered-up these allegations is categorically false. It was not Manchester United doctor that treated Gabriela Cavallin,” United spokesperson said.
Antony is still with Manchester United as he has been axed off international duties due to the allegations.
