Manchester United have offered Mason Greenwood to Italian club on transfer deadline day, MySportDab reports.
Manchester United took a decision on Mason Greenwood’s future after the club concluded investigations on the rape saga that saw him suspended from the squad since 2022.
The Red Devils concluded they will part ways with Mason Greenwood as the English forward could not continue his career at Old Trafford due to the media blitz on the rape saga and the need for him to restart his career in a different environment.
Notably, Manchester United said Mason Greenwood was not found guilty of the alleged charges but the club insisted he could not continue his career at Old Trafford.
The club pledged to work out a perfect exit solution for Mason Greenwood this summer, helping him resettle for a new career elsewhere.
United had three options on the table for Mason Greenwood – either they loaned him out or sell him within this transfer window or terminate his contract at the closure of the transfer window.
With the transfer window closing in a matter of hours, Manchester United have now made a deadline day push to offload Mason Greenwood.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Mason Greenwood has been offered to Serie A side, Lazio, for a possible move before the transfer window closes.
Lazio are yet to make a move for the player as of the time of filing this report with a deal looking unlikely as the transfer window closes soon.
However, it is clear Manchester United want to let Mason Greenwood go this summer probably through a buy option not a loan deal.
If the transfer window closes without a deal for Mason Greenwood, then Manchester United will have to continue footing Greenwood’s £75,000 weekly wage while he remain out of the club.
Manchester United could as well terminate his contract leaving him as a free agent.
