Leicester City displayed their dominance in the Championship with a resounding 4-1 win over Southampton, propelling them to the top of the league standings, MySportDab reports.

In a match that showcased their attacking prowess, the Foxes secured their fifth win in six matches this season.

Despite recent transfer speculations, Wilfred Ndidi found himself in the starting lineup, selected by manager Enzo Maresca for the encounter against Southampton.

The midfielder’s performance proved instrumental in Leicester’s victory.

The Foxes wasted no time in asserting their dominance as Jamie Vardy opened the scoring a mere 21 seconds into the match with a characteristic finish from inside the box. Leicester City’s early goal set the tone for the match.

Leicester City extended their lead in the 18th minute, with forward Kasey McAteer netting his third league goal for the Foxes, further strengthening their advantage.

Southampton, however, showed resilience and pulled one back seven minutes later through Samuel Edozie, narrowing the deficit as they sought a way back into the game.

As the first half approached its conclusion, Wilfred Ndidi showcased his footballing prowess. Receiving the ball from Stephy Mavididi inside the box, Ndidi executed a clever feint with his left foot, leaving a defender bewildered.

With composure and precision, the midfielder side-footed his shot into the back of the net, marking his third goal of the season.

Mavididi added his name to the scoresheet in the 67th minute, sealing the victory for the Foxes in impressive fashion.

Southampton’s woes were compounded when Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana received a red card in the 97th minute, reducing them to ten men.

Nigerian compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho also made a cameo appearance for Leicester City, taking the field as a substitute for Vardy after 84 minutes.

On the other side, Joe Aribo entered the fray for Southampton, replacing Che Adams after 78 minutes.

Leicester City’s dominant performance and convincing victory saw them rise to the top of the Championship standings, highlighting their ambitions for promotion.

Wilfred Ndidi’s pivotal role in the match emphasized his significance to the team, despite recent transfer speculations. With the Foxes flying high in the Championship, they are poised for a promising campaign ahead.
