The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced an agreement with Jose Santos Peseiro for him to continue serving as the Head Coach of the Nigerian Senior Men’s National Team, MySportDab reports.
This extension follows the terms outlined in the original contract, which was drafted in May 2022.
Peseiro’s mandate, as per the contract, is to guide the Super Eagles to at least the semi-finals of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, set to be hosted in Cote d’Ivoire in the coming months.
The Portuguese coach has already successfully steered the Super Eagles through the AFCON qualifiers, securing their place with a match to spare.
This journey included a remarkable 10-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe in Agadir, Morocco, in June 2022.
In this new agreement, Peseiro has willingly accepted a pay cut from his previous terms, showcasing his commitment to the Nigerian national team.
Additionally, the expanded contract entrusts him with the responsibility of coaching the Super Eagles B team, which consists of home-based professionals that compete in the biennial African Nations Championship.
This development signifies the NFF’s confidence in Peseiro’s leadership and coaching abilities as they prepare to tackle the upcoming AFCON competition.
Peseiro’s experience and dedication will be instrumental as the Super Eagles aim to excel on the continental stage and pursue a successful campaign in Cote d’Ivoire.
