Cristiano Ronaldo could be flogged 99 times the next time he visits Iran after he allegedly crossed his bounds while on Asian Champions League duty for Al Nassr on September, 2023, MySportDab reports.

Cristiano Ronaldo traveled with his Al Nassr teammates to Iran on September to take on Persepolis in Asian Champions League fixture.

His presence was a thriller for Iranian football supporters, who crowded Al Nassr training ground in their huge numbers to see the football superstar.

The match against Perspeolis even had to be postponed due to huge crowd that milled out to see Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, it was not all roses for Cristiano Ronaldo despite the rapturous welcome by the ecstatic fans.

A new report by Iranian outlet, Mundo Deportivo, has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo erred on his behavior while in Iran based on civil norms of Iranian people.

According to the report, a female Iranian paint artist, Fatima Hamimi, had crafted an image of Cristiano Ronaldo to give the player as he comes to Iran.

Cristiano Ronaldo took out time to visit Fatima Hamimi to appreciate her for the painting.

While on visit to the painter, Ronaldo goofed off the norms of the Iranian people by not only embracing Fatima but giving her a kiss and a perk in the cheek.

The gesture has been interpreted by Iranian activists and lawyers as offensive to the civil norms and behavior guiding the action of the Iranian people.

Mundo Deportivo adds that the aggrieved lawyers have now filed a complaint to Iranian authorities, accusing Cristiano Ronaldo of adultery and wanting him punished on his next visit to Iran.

It is still unclear how the Iranian authorities will react to the incident but Iranian media outlets says Cristiano Ronaldo could be flogged 99 times for breaching Iranian norm if he is convicted.

Iran is understood to be a very conservative society with strict norms governing social life.

However, it is still unclear whether the petition by the aggrieved lawyers will make a headway.
