Start Antony In UCL Match Vs Galatasaray? Erik ten Hag Reveals Decision

Erik ten Hag has revealed his decision on whether to start Man United winger Antony in the club’s Champions League match against Galatasaray today, MySportDab reports.

Manchester United battles Galatasaray at home at Old Trafford in their second Champions League match and will hope to return to winning ways after losing the opening match to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in a seven-goal thriller in Munich.

Antony missed the Champions League opener against Bayern Munich and other domestic games for Manchester United due to the ongoing investigations into assault charges by his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

During the international break, he was temporarily excused from Man United squad to cooperate with security agencies on investigations into the assault allegations.

After meeting both Brazil and Manchester Police in connection with the charges, Manchester United restored him back to the squad and he is back to training with the team.

Manchester United’s first match after his return to the squad will be the Champions League clash against Galatasaray and there have been speculations whether ten Hag will include the Brazil winger in the starting lineup days after he returned from training.

When asked whether Antony will start the match against Galatasaray, Erik ten Hag confirmed to the affirmative although he did not put it straight that Antony will start the match.

Here is what he said;

“Yes, he (Antony) trained very well with the team on his return and will be ready to play. He will be considered for a starting role in the match.”

Manchester United are sweating with a grinding injury crisis going into the match with the likes of Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, Tom Heaton all on the sidelines.

It has been a poor start to the campaign for Manchester United so far with five defeats in all matches this season.

They will hope to return to winning ways when taking on the Turkish Champions at Old Trafford in the Champions League clash.
