Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is not keeping it cool with his players as his side prepares to take on Brentford in a make or a mar encounter, MySportDab reports.
United have been a shadow of themselves since the beginning of the season with a series of poor results in both Premier League and Champions League that has got tongues wagging.
The Red Devils have lost 6 out of their matches this season, including a humbling home defeat to Brighton, Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.
Ten Hag will be hoping to reverse United’s poor start to the season when they take on Brentford today.
A loss against the Bees at Old Trafford will further compound the crisis at Old Trafford and it will become the first time Manchester United have lost three consecutive home matches at Old Trafford since 1962.
Hence, Erik ten Hag has sounded a note of warning to all his players as the team prepares to take on Thomas Frank’s boys.
Speaking ahead of the match, Ten Hag implore his players to handle the enormous expectations that comes with wearing United’s shirt and playing for the club. He called for “cool heads and patience” to get them through their current predicament.
Asked about the unforgiving spotlight on United in times of crisis, Ten Hag said: “We have to deal with it. It doesn’t make any sense to think about it. We have to deal with it.”
“It gives me more energy to fight and turn this around. I’m responsible for having the right mentality. In my communication, my demands and my standards, in what I demand from the players.
“I have to set that and make sure the right mentality is there. I give my 100 per cent effort every day to get that in. So don’t think about what’s going around in the surrounding environment. Focus on what it’s about – and that is to be a good team.
“The foundation is the way of play. When you follow that, you will have a foundation and win games. We know we are still in transition as a club, but in the meantime we know we have to win every game.”
United will host Brentford at Old Trafford by 3pm Nigerian time and will hope to return back to winning ways after the poor run of results.
