FIFA REACT As Eddie Howe Talks Tough On Tonali Ban!

FIFA have finally lend their wight to Sandro Tonali 10-month ban from football as imposed by Italian Football Authorities, MySportDab Reports.

Italian Football Federation (FIGC) slammed Sandro Tonali with a 10-month ban for breaching betting rules for professional footballers.

The ban was officially implemented and took effect on Thursday, October 26, 2023 but it appears Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was unruffled by the decision.

Eddie Howe seemed bent on playing the embattled midfielder in Newcastle United matches despite the ban.

Speaking in Newcastle United pre-match press conference ahead of their weekend Premier League clash today, Eddie Howe said he is likely to play Tonali as the club was yet to be officially informed of the ban.

The ban by FGIC faced jurisdictional issues since Sandro Tonali was playing in the Premier League not Serie A or any division of Italian football.

Now, on Friday, FGIC wrote FIFA and the world football governing body have now extended Tonali’s ban worldwide.

This means Sandro Tonali will effectively stop playing in any country that is FIFA Association member including England.

Hence, FGIC need not communicate the ban to English FA or Newcastle United for the ban to be effected. With the weight of FIFA’s authority, Sandro Tonali’s career is summarily paused till the expiration of the 10-month timeline.

Sandro Tonali will now miss his first match serving the ban as Newcastle United face Wolves in the Premier League today.

Tonali’s ban is a big blow to Newcastle United as he had already cemented his place in Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United squad after joining in the summer for £55m from AC Milan.
