Barcelona have close up the gap on Real Madrid at the top of the LaLiga with a hard-fought win over Atletico Bilbao, MySportDab reports.

The Catalans nearly shared spoils with the visitors but needed a late magical moment by youngster and debutant Marc Guiu to turn the game around.

The Catalans dominated proceedings from but were less clinical handling the challenge by the spirited Athletic Bilbao side.

It was jerky start as Athletic Bilbao proved a tough nut cracked and were threatening in the first half when launching attacks.

The two teams came close to landing the first punch but could not make it count and they ended up heading into the first half break with a 0-0 draw.

Barcelona stepped up their game in the second half but could not still make their dominant display count until Xavi Hernandez made some late substitutions that made in a difference in the attack.

Marc Guiu proved a super sub and also made a sparkling first team debut as he finally made it count for the Catalans with a cool finish in the 78th minute.

Guiu dart pass Athletic Bilbao defense after having a through-ball from the middle before he slot it pass Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper to give the Catalans the lead.

Athletic Bilbao did little to mount a response as they failed to make a reasonable effort on goal with the game far spent.

The match finally ended with Barcelona grabbing a deserved 1-0 win to close the gap on arch rivals Real Madrid in the table before the El-Clasico next week.
