Victor Boniface Secures Second Consecutive Bundesliga Rookie of the Month Award

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has been honored with the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for September, marking his second consecutive win this season.

Bayer Leverkusen made the announcement on their social media platform, recognizing Boniface’s exceptional contributions to the team. The 22-year-old talent had previously claimed the award in August.

Boniface’s standout performances in September outshone his competition, including Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig and Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim.

In just four appearances for Bayer Leverkusen during the month, Boniface managed to score two goals and provide three assists.

Notably, Boniface made his debut for the Super Eagles during the 2023 AFCON qualifier against São Tomé and Principe, impressively assisting Samuel Chukwueze in Nigeria’s resounding 6-0 victory.

He followed up with his first start for the Eagles in a 2-2 international friendly against Saudi Arabia in Portugal.

Since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Union St-Gilloise in the summer, Boniface has been in stellar form, netting nine goals and contributing three assists in just 10 games in the Bundesliga.

His remarkable achievement last month made him the first player since Erling Haaland in 2020 to win both the Rookie and Player of the Month awards in the same month.

Victor Boniface’s rapid ascent in the Bundesliga and his recent contributions to the Nigerian national team have marked him as a rising star to watch, capturing the attention of football enthusiasts and fans worldwide.
