Corinthians goalkeeper identified as Cassio Ramos has sparked reactions with a viral footage of him allowing a freekick into his own net, MySportDab reports.

Standing tall in-between the sticks for Corinthians in Brazil Serie A match against Mineiro, Cassio pretended to be ready to save an indirect freekick from his opponent but refused to save it at the last second and allowed it into the net.

The viral footage which is available at the end of this post has sparked reactions with football fans and pundits marveling at Cassio’s antics with incredulity.

Others lauds the goalkeeper for his quick-thinking and remarkable display of ingenuity.

The scoreline before the indirect freekick was a 1-1 draw and despite the ball wreathing into the net the goal was not counted as the ball did not touch any other player apart from the the taker.

It was indeed another wacky moment by Cassio Ramos who actually took football fans unawares with his antics.

Even the the most versed football followers could not escaped being stunned by Cassio Ramos’ antics as everyone expected him to save the spotkick even though it did not touch any other player apart from the taker.

The referee ruled out the goal since it did not touch anyone and ordered for a goal kick.

As per the Mail, the incident is not the first time Cassio has been in the news for controversial and his unconventional goalkeeping.

He sparked reactions in 2021 when he escaped being sent off for charging out of his box to mark out his opponent who came one-on-one with him during a match against Gremio.

Also, in a match against Palmeiras, Cassio could not strike his luck as he was sent off 11 minutes after second half for a second bookable offense.

Despite his on-field antics and controversies, Cassio Ramos is said to be one of the most loved Corinthians players but the club’s fanbase.

He also has top sports personalities like Tom Brady as his followers.

Cassio has been at Corinthians since 2012 and is one of the team’s oldest players. He has made 366 appearances for the club.

Cassio retired from international football in 2019 and had won only one cap with Brazil national team.
