Cristiano Ronaldo could be returning to UEFA Champions League in a shock move by UEFA, MySportDab reports.
Before his infamous and acrimonious Man United exit to Al Nassr, Ronaldo tarried on his next club as he wanted to continue his career in Europe.
Most importantly, Ronaldo wanted to continue playing top-flight European football especially UEFA Champions League.
However, when offers were not forthcoming from Champions League clubs, the Portugal and Man United legend decided to pit tent with Saudi side Al Nassr with the most lucrative contract offer ever.
He was still link to a possible return to Europe for Champions league football but in a recent interview he ruled out such possibility insisting European football has lost its value and he does not see himself returning to Europe.
Now, according to reports from multiple sources, Cristiano Ronaldo could inevitably return to Europe and taste Champions League football before calling time on his career.
According to the report, European football governing body, UEFA, who are the organizers of Champions League, are ‘considering inviting’ Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al Nassr to 2024/24 Champions League.
The move could see Ronaldo return to Champions League action but still as an Al Nassr player should he renew his contract with the club.
The plan to invite Al Nassr to the tournament is said to have stemmed from the fact that the club is one of the fast developing football clubs off the shores of Europe with elite and top-tier players with lot of experience.
However, it is still unclear whether Al Nassr will accept such an offer which could see the club wrestle with the best teams in Europe.
Cristiano Ronaldo is still UEFA Champions League all-time topscorer with 140 goals – a tally he accumulated while playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
