France demolished Gibraltar in a dead rubber 2024 Euro qualifiers match last night, MySportDab reports.
The 2022 World Cup runners-up had already booked their ticket in 2024 Euros but they left no stone unturned as they held Gibraltar to a savage a scoreline at home to stamp their dominance in the group.
Just three minutes into the game, Gibraltar scored an own goal to give France the lead. A minute after the own goal, Marcus Thuram added to the tally to make 2-0 before Zire Emery scored the third goal in the 16th minute.
With a three goal advantage, France still got the game under control and held the visitors by the scruff of the neck with complete dominance.
They scored four more goals in an interval of 7 seven minutes from 30th to 37th minute to wrap up the first half with an emphatic 7-0 win.
Mbappe, Clauss, Coman, and Fofana registered their name on the scoresheet to put the game beyond the European minnows.
In the second half, Gibraltar held off the hosts until after the hour before the rain of goals started falling again.
Adrien Rabiot opened the scoring in the second half in the 62nd minute before Coman bagged his brace to make it 9-0.
In the 73rd minutes, Dembele also found the back of the net before Kylian Mbappe returned again for his second and third goal in the 74th and 82nd minute respectively.
With Gibraltar trailing 12-0, substitute Olivier Giroud was to wrap up the rout with a late brace to make it 14-0 for the hosts.
The match was one of the biggest 2024 Euros qualifiers victory so far with Gibraltar yet to win a game in the group.
