I’m A Madridista” – Jose Mourinho Breaks Silence on Real Madrid Return

Roma manager Jose Mourinho has broken his silence on rumors linking him to a return to his former club Real Madrid as manager, MySportDab reports.

In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, the former Chelsea, Inter Milan, Man United, and Tottenham Hotspur manager seemed to undermine the rumors as he insists Real Madrid president Florentino Perez may not consider a different hand for the role with Carlo Ancelotti in the dugout.

Mourinho did not ruled out a possible return to Santiago Bernabeu as manager but maintained Los Blancos and Perez are satisfied with the current manager Ancelotti and wouldn’t like to consider a replacement.

“Rejoining Real Madrid to replace Carlo Ancelotti? Florentino Perez is super smart. He already has a manager. Why thinking of another?

“I’m a Madridista and I hope Carlo Ancelotti will stay there. He is a perfect coach for Real Madrid,” he said.

Jose Mourinho managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013 winning three trophies – La Liga, Copa Del Rey, and Supercopa de Espana.

He has been regarded as one of the best managers in Europe and has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia.

Mourinho revealed he turned down a multi-million pounds offer for a managerial role in Saudi Arabia in the summer.

He was linked to Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad, including the previously vacant Saudi national team job before Roberto Mancini was appointed new manager.

The rumors linking the Portuguese to Santiago Bernabeu is not a surprise as he is considered as one of the eminently qualified managers to take over from Carlo Ancelotti should the Italian leave next summer.

Meanwhile, Spanish outlet sport reports that Florentino Perez is considering renewing Carlo Ancelotti’s contract with a new two-year offer on the table.

Ancelotti will run out of his contract with the club in June 2024 and has been linked to Brazil national team job.

As things stand it still uncertain where the pendulum on Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid future will swing.

Jose Mourinho, on the hand, will be out of contract with Roma at the end of this current campaign with new contract renewal plan in place.
