A sad but telling irony is staring Manchester United in the face with a below-par performance by their forwards in the Premier League, MySportDab reports.
United crumbled to their worst start to a Premier League campaign as they suffered six defeats in their first nine games.
While the overall performance of the team has been far from the benchmark, a string of poor individual performance by the club’s forwards is also a problem.
Rashford, who shouldered the goalscoring brunt last season, has only recorded just a goal in 11 Premier League appearances so far this season.
Antony had a pretty good start last season, scoring in his first three starts after joining from Ajax. Now, it is not looking good for the Brazilian forward.
In 9 Premier League games so far, Antony is yet to find his goalscoring boot nor an assist.
Rasmus Hojlund is also sharing a similar slack in performance in the league despite a promising Champions League start.
Hojlund has scored five Champions League goals in 4 appearances for Man United but is yet to record a Premier League goal in 9 appearances as well.
While the trio of Man United forwards are struggling with a nightmare start to the season, Mason Greenwood is flying in Madrid with Getafe.
Ironically, the Manchester United loanee, who was asked out of the club after his 18-month exile, has more goals than Rashford, Rasmus Holjund, and Antony combined.
Mason Greenwood has scored 2 goals for Getafe and has three assists to his name while Rashford, Hojlund, and Antony tally this season doesn’t add up to two.
Mason Greenwood is on a loan move to Getafe and is reportedly loving life with the Madrid-based club with a possible permanent offer on the table.
Other La Liga clubs are also interested in a move for the player but United will be hoping to have back the young forward as the goal drought among the top forwards shows no sign of abating.
