Manchester United have received an injury boost with Amad Diallo back to training after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, MySportDab reports.
United confirmed in a club statement on Thursday that the Ivory Coast international is back to the squad and has resumed training as he seeks to return to full fitness.
Diallo picked up a gruesome knee injury during Man United preseason friendly against Arsenal in US.
He has been sidelined since the beginning of the season, and is yet to taste action with the club.
Before the injury setback, Diallo was tipped to make the cut of youngsters set to break into Erik ten Hag’s first team this season.
He won the confidence of the Dutch during preseason with series of remarkable performances on the field.
Now back to the squad, Diallo is tipped to play a key role in Erik ten Hag’s squad especially in the wide areas where the club is struggling with an underwhelming performance by the likes of Antony, Marcus Rashford, and others.
Amad Diallo’s return from the sidelines is a big injury boost for United who have struggled so far this season with a piling list of injured players.
Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, and Mason Mount are still stuck on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Diallo is not expected to be readily available for United for the game against Bournemouth at the weekend.
The 21-year-old is expected to gradually pick up his fitness before returning to action for the club.
Diallo has won four caps with Ivorien national team. With the timely recovery, he may likely make the team’s 2023 AFCON squad.
Since joining Manchester United from Atlanta in 2021, Diallo has struggled to break into Man United first team.
He was loaned to Championship side Sunderland last season where he starred with 14 goals in 43 appearances.
With his impact at the middle of the park for United during preseason, it is believed another loan move is off ten Hag’s options as the Dutch is more likely to have him prove his abilities with first team action soon for the club.
