FT: Sheffield United 0-2 Liverpool, Reds Grab WIN

Liverpool are going head-to-head with Arsenal on the Premier League title race as they bag a win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, MySportDab reports.

The Blades, who are now the first Premier League club to part ways with their manager, were easily dispatched by Liverpool in front of their home fans.

Following a dismal start to the campaign after promotion to the English elite division, Sheffield United parted ways with Paul Heckingbottom with their former manager Chris Wilder returning to the dugout at Bramall Lane.

Wilder, who had an heroic history with the club in his first spell, was certainly set for a tough test in his first game against a title-chasing Liverpool.

Liverpool started the game in the front foot dominating proceedings and trying to beat down the host’s defenses.

They wielded over 74% in ball possession and recorded 15 attempts with 8 on target.

It was just a matter of time before the Reds tore apart the Blades’ resolute defending and take the lead.

Vigil van Dijk finally made it happen in the 37th minute latching on Alexander-Arnold’s assist to give Liverpool the lead.

The goal was enough to send the Reds into a first half lead as Sheffield United did little to mount a response.

Liverpool continued on an equal strong footing in the second half and were looking set to double the lead but were held back by the home side.

The Reds needed a stoppage-time strike from Szoboszlai to make it 2-0 at the death.

The match ended with Liverpool winning all three points to close the gap on Arsenal at the top of the table.
