Victor Osimhen Agrees New Contract With Napoli

Victor Osimhen has agreed to extend his contract with Napoli in what could be a big blow to Chelsea’s interest in the striker, MySportDab reports.

According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Napoli have reached an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen to extend his contract till 2026.

More detail of the report reveals Victor Osimhen’s new release clause as reported by SkySports could be around €130m.

The new deal means the 24-year-old will extend his his stay at Naples by one more year as his current current contract was expected to run out in 2025.

Osimhen’s new contract agreement could be a major blow to Chelsea’s long-standing interest in the striker.

Chelsea led the list of top European clubs who were in for a move for Victor Osimhen following his prolific run with Napoli last season.

While Napoli were intent on keeping Victor Osimhen amidst the array of interests from European rivals, the club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis made it clear he could be forced to sell the striker should he get a better offer in excess of £100m.

The price tag was a turnoff for potential suitors but there are reports Chelsea, who previously backed off from the move due to Napoli’s valuation of the player, are ready to break bank and sign the player this summer.

Pertinently, Osimhen’s new contract agreement with Napoli may not stall his move away from the club in January but will certainly cede more control to Napoli on the negotiation table.

With his new release clause fixed for €130m, it is still unclear whether Chelsea will continue the chase for the striker.

It is understood Napoli must have deemed it necessary to broker the new agreement with the Nigerian forward and inflate his value as he recently added the CAF footballer of the year award to his shelf.

While focused on his career with Napoli, Victor Osimhen has not hid his ambitions of moving to the Premier League and has personally revealed he is a fan of Chelsea and Manchester United.
