AFCON 2023: Mali 2-0 South Africa, Bafana Suffer SHOCK LOSS! (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Mali smashed South Africa 2-0 in their opening game of the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast, MySportDab reports.

It wasn’t a pleasant game for Bafana Bafana who couldn’t do much as Percy Tau missed a penalty which could have changed a lot.

The Malians made sure they did not held back in making sure they claimed the needed result that gave them a good start.

It was an evenly balanced game on paper between both teams who have no much history of playing against themselves.

South Africa started well by pushing forward with everything trying to see what they could make happen but failed badly.

Mali almost conceded in the 19th minutes but luckily Percy Tau couldn’t convert his penalty which could have gifted his side the lead as they carried on.

There was nothing coming forth from both ends as they pushed on creating opportunities and trying to see what possibility they could make happen.

The first half came to an end with no goal between Mali and South Africa which stayed 0-0 as they head for the break after 45 minutes of action.

There was a lot which took place in the second half that saw them putting in more efforts and trying to see what they could make happen.

Mali were the better side as they took the lead through an outstanding goal scored by Hamari Traoré who made sure things turned 1-0 in the 60th minutes.

Lassine Sinayoko made sure things went ugly for South Africa after scoring another goal which came in the 66th minutes to make things 2-0.

There were a number of opportunities which came from both ends but nothing changed the outcome as the encounter enter 90 minutes.

Mali secured a wonderful victory from their end after making sure they claimed a 2-0 win against South Africa who had nothing much on the table to offer.
