Barcelona have confirmed their decision on the club’s manager Xavi Hernadez after the club’s defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico, MySportDab reports.
Barcelona suffered their heaviest El Clasico defeat in the Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid attacking sensation Vinicius Jr fired a quick double to bag his brace and raced Real Madrid into the lead in the 7th and 10th minute.
Robert Lewandowski reduced the deficit for the Catalans, scoring a thunderbolt from outside the spot to make it 2-1.
Vinicius Jr then bagged his first hat-trick in the 37th minute, 4 minutes after Lewandowski’s goal. Rodrygo completed the rout for Real Madrid in the 67th minute to give Real Madrid a commanding 4-1 lead.
The match ended with Real Madrid wrestling the Super Cup trophy from the Laliga rivals.
The defeat piled up pressure on Xavi Hernandez who is struggling with inconsistent domestic run this season.
The former player turned manager led Barcelona to La Liga title last season but has now been written off the race this season due to a recent dismal run.
There have been reports of his possible imminent sack by Barcelona following club’s stuttering start to the campaign this season but such reports have been dismissed.
In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona director and former player Deco made it clear Barcelona are not considering parting ways with Xavi despite the El Clasico defeat.
Deco said;
“Questions about Xavi makes no sense. Xavi has full confidence from all of us. This defeat doesn’t change our plans.”
Barcelona will hope to return to winning ways after the heavy defeat to Real Madrid
