It was another cagey West London Derby which had both teams digging deep against themselves in search of an early goal in the game.
Chelsea had their usual dominance ensuring they had things under control trying to see what they could put together going forward for the day.
It was a good teamwork effort from Fulham to keep themselves evenly involved in the match which saw them forcing a save from Petrovic as they carried on.
Things between them entered the added time which saw Raheem Sterling being brought down inside the penalty area resulting in the Blues being handed a chance.
Cole Palmer converted neatly from the penalty spot ensuring Chelsea went inside for the break with a 1-0 lead against Fulham which was duly deserved.
The second half came to play with both teams making some tactical difference to ensure things worked out in their favor going forward.
Fulham were balanced enough in the second half which saw them making their chances on goal, but none failed to enter.
Chelsea continued pressing with more opportunities along the way and a close one from Conor Gallagher who hit the woodwork.
Nothing was coming through as the away side pressed all through the remaining minutes trying to see if they could make a comeback.
Chelsea claimed the victory 1-0 against Fulham which gave them three points and pushed them up the table into eighth position.
