Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed the club’s plan B amidst Christopher Nkunku’s injury blow, MySportDab reports.

Chelsea are sweating with Christopher Nkunku’s injury for the second time this season.

The former RB Leipzig star has not seen much action since joining the club last summer from Bundesliga. He was first grounded with an injury in preseason.

After three months on the sideline, Nkunku returned to the team and made his Premier League debut in a 2-1 defeat to Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.

It wasn’t a groundbreaking start but a promising outing for the player as he scored Chelsea’s only goal in the match.

Since making his Premier League debut, Nkunku has made 3 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, including an appearance in Carabao Cup.

Now, he has been sidelined again following a reported hip injury while in Chelsea training. Nkunku was expected to make his 4th appearance for Chelsea in EFL Cup clash against Preston but Mauricio Pochettino confirmed he will not start the match as he is yet to recover from the new injury.

As per a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Mauricio Pochettino is considering a plan B to boost Chelsea attack as he his ‘worried’ Nkunku may endure another long spell on the sidelines.

When asked about Chelsea signing a new striker if Nkunku will not return to action soon, Pochettino said;

“We are going to decide soon.”

“I still don’t have all the info about whether Nkunku is going to be available or not for a small initial period”.

“We need to be very clinical to take some decisions.”

Chelsea have been linked to January move for Nigerian striker and Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen.

However, it is still unclear whether the club will fork out £112m to trigger the new release clause slammed on Victor Osimhen by Napoli.
