Chelsea are set to sweat again with Christopher Nkunku’s injury with the former RB Leipzig star set to face another spell on the sidelines, MySportDab reports.
In what could be seen as a big blow to the Blues, Nkunku has been confirmed injured and will miss Chelsea’s FA Cup clash in mid-week against Leeds United.
Speaking ahead of the Leeds clash, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed he has been informed of Nkunku’s new injury by the club’s medical department.
However, the Argentine seemed to be greeted with awe on the report of the injury as well, saying he did not know when Nkunku got injured but had been told that he is injured.
“We were told yesterday Christopher Nkunku got injured but we don’t when he got injured,” Mauricio Pochettino said in Leeds United pre-match press conference.
It is the fourth time Nkunku will be sidelined this season after he joined the club from RB Leipzig this season.
It has been a sluggish and disappointing start for the highly-rated attacking midfielder who is battling niggling and recurrent injury issues at Chelsea.
Although the nature of the injury is yet to be disclosed to the media, Fabrizio Romano confirms Nkunku will miss four weeks of action for the Blues from sources close to the club’s medical department.
The French star came on as a substitute in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool at Wembley. He was expected to feature for the club against Leeds United in FA Cup 5th-round clash in mid-week before the injury blow.
