Bayern Munich are gradually losing gears on the 2023/24 Bundesliga title race as they suffer yet another Bundesliga defeat to Bochum, MySportDab reports.
Goals from Asano, Schlotterbeck, and Stoger condemned the serial Bundesliga title winners to their second consecutive defeat, and third straight defeat in all competitions with pressure tanking up Thomas Tuchel.
Having lost their last Bundesliga game to Bayer Leverkusen, Thomas Tuchel needed victory to stay put on the Bundesliga title race.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen had continued on their prolific run, and opened up an 8-point gap on top of the table after a win over Heidenheim away from home further putting pressure on the Bavarians to win at Vonovia Vurhstadion.
The Thomas Tuchel-led star-studded side started the game on the front foot, pressing hard to find an opener. It was not long before they raced into the lead.
Jamaal Musiala scored in the 14th minute but the lead was shortlived as Bochum fought back through Asano who scored the equaliser in the 38th minute.
Six minutes after Asano’s equaliser, Schlotterbeck dealt Bayern Munich a blow as he put the hosts in front against the run of play. Schlotterbeck’s strike was enough to send the hosts into the lead at the break.
Bayern Munich continued on their dominant sail in the second half, firing 27 shots with 10 on target but could not find the equaliser.
They were dealt a heavy blow when Dayot Upamecano caused a penalty and was sent off as well with a second yellow card. Stoger converted the spot-kick to extend the lead and edge Bochum close to a big victory over the Bundesliga giants.
Harry Kane would score a late consolation goal for the away side as Bochum held on to salvage a 3-2 victory, condemning Bayern Munich to a second successive Bundesliga defeat.
