Dani Alves has finally been granted bail and will be released from Brian 2 prison after his conviction, MySportDab reports.
The 40-year-old legendary defender was slammed with a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for alleged rape and sexual assault.
Standing trial before the Spanish court, Dani Alves denied the allegations, saying he did not know the woman in question.
However, when forensic evidence emerged, he said he actually had sex with the woman but through consent.
Everything occurred on December 31, 2022, in a Barcelona nightclub before he was whisked away in January 2023 by Spanish police for prosecution.
After deliberations, Alves was found guilty and slammed with the four-and-a-half prison sentence, including a parole.
He was also asked not to communicate with the victim for nine-and-a-half-year years and will also pay a whooping £128,000 as legal costs and compensation.
Alves has resolved to appeal the judgment through his lawyer, Ines Guardiola, and would likely be doing so away from Brians 2 prison as he has been granted bail.
According to Marca, Dani Alves has been reportedly granted bail worth £850,000 after his legal team successfully proved he is not a flight risk should he be released through bail.
He will be released from prison while he awaits the final judgment on his appeal.
It is pertinent to note Dani Alves have had his bail request repeatedly turned down before the judgment as he was considered a flight risk from the onset of the trial.
Now, his provisional release request has been granted after he gave assurances he will not ‘run away’ until the filing of the ruling is handed following his appeal.
