Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Marcus Rashford and Johnny Evans were subbed off from Man City match due to injury concerns, MySportDab reports.

Rashford, who raised Man United’s hopes with a rocket at the hostile Etihad ground, could not continue the game till the end.

He was subbed off in the 70th minute after he appeared to be struggling with an ankle issue that limited his athletic abilities.

Before Rashford’s blow, United were also forced to subbed off Johnny Evans after the hour mark as he equally appeared to be struggling with an issue.

There have been concerns United may sweat with a double injury blow involving the two players – a development that could deepen the club’s injury crisis.

Speaking after the loss to City, Erik ten Hag revealed the two players struggled with fitness issues before the game, hence they had to be subbed off when they were showing signs of a cramp.

“Yes, Rashford could not fight to the end. We had to take him off in the 70th minute. He had a good game but was not fully fit for the game. The same goes for Johnny Evans,” Erik ten Hag said.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the match as Manchester United came crashing to the firepower of Manchester City’s young guns.

The combined strike force of Phil Foden and Erling Haaland overturned the game in the second half with the former bagging a brace while the latter sealed victory with City’s third.

It is still unclear whether Rashford and Evans will return to the lineup for Manchester United with the injury worries. And ten Hag would be hoping to have the duo back as he prepares for his next game against Everton at the weekend.
