Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are not slowing on their prolific goalscoring run for Inter Miami this season, MySportDab reports.
The pair found the back of the net again and also bagged an assist each as Inter Miami saw off Nashville in the CONCACAF Champions Cup round-16 second-leg at the Chase Stadium.
The first leg had ended in a 3-3 draw with goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez helping the Herons peg back the Leagues Cup final opponents to a draw at the death.
At the Chase Stadium, Inter Miami needed a win to qualify for the last 8 of the competition, having shared spoils with the MLS opponents in the reverse fixture.
The hosts got off the mark with a goal from Luis Suarez in the 8th minute. Lionel Messi assisted the South American compatriot to put the Herons ahead.
Fifteen minutes after Luis Suarez’s goal, Lionel Messi scored in the 23rd minute to double the lead for the home side and paved the way for Nashville’s defeat.
The first half ended with Inter Miami going into the break with the 2-0 lead.
Nashville put up a better performance in the second half but could not find their way back into the game. In the 63rd minute, Inter Miami put the game beyond the visitors, scoring to make it 3-0.
Ryan Taylor, assisted by Luis Suarez, scored the third goal as the Florida-based outfit closed in on the CONCACAF Champions Cup Quarterfinal.
Nashville did finally find the back of the net in stoppage time to bag their consolation as Inter Miami ran out with a 3-1 victory to win 6-4 on aggregate and qualify for the last 8 of the competition.
