Lionel Messi Reveals When He Will Retire From Football

Lionel Messi has broken his silence on when he will retire from football, MySportDab reports.

The Argentine iconic footballer is nearing the twilights of his career with reports he may soon call it a quit.

Speaking in a Podcast, Messi revealed he knows when he will call it a quit on the game.

According to him, he is so critical of himself and knows when he is not himself again.

The 36-year-old added when he is no longer able to perform, he will retire from the game.

I am very self critical of myself, I know when I’m good, when I’m bad, when I play well and when I play badly. When I feel it’s time to take that step, I will take it without thinking about age,” Messi said

“I know that moment I feel I am no longer ready to perform, that I am no longer enjoying myself or helping my teammates.”

Messi has been on a stellar run with his new club Inter Miami since he ended the heroic chapter of his career in Europe.

He has 23 goal contributions, comprising 16 goals and 7 assists in his 19 appearances for the club.

Since opening a new chapter in his career with the Florida-based outfit, Messi has grappled with frequent injury blows with reports he may soon quit the sport.

However, as things stand, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is set to stay put with Inter Miami, including continuing his game on the international scene.

Lionel Messi has 19 months remaining on his contract with Inter Miami. It is still unclear whether he will extend his contract with the club but there are suggestions the Barcelona legend will aim to round up his career, playing in the 2026 World Cup with Argentina.
