It is not looking good for Manchester United as key defensive midfielder Casemiro is set for another spell on the sidelines, MySportDab reports.

The Real Madrid legend, who made a £60m switch to Old Trafford last season, has pulled out of Brazil squad for March international break and will miss United’s crunch FA Cup quarterfinal bash with Liverpool.

Casemiro’s injury blow was confirmed by Brazil FA who issued a statement affirming the omission of the 32-year-old from the Selecao’s squad for March International break.

The statement added that Brazil national team head coach, Dorivial Junior, has called up Porto striker Pepe to replace Casemiro.

“Brazil national team coach Dorivial Junior has announced the decision to call up Porto striker Pepe to replace Casemiro.

“Casemiro had to be replaced due to injury as it was confirmed he will miss the double-header international friendlies against England and Spain on March 23 and March 26, respectively.”

Casemiro’s injury blow is coming more as a shock to United fans who were expecting the midfield sensation to feature for United in the FA Cup quarterfinal tie against Liverpool today at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag left no clues as to Casemiro’s state of fitness in his pre-match press conference only confirming the return of Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

As of the time of filing this report, the situation of Casemiro’s injury is unknown but the latest report filtering in from Brazil football confederation means he will not be available for the Liverpool match today.

It is the second time, Casemiro will drop to the sidelines with injury. He missed almost four months of action for Manchester United from October 2023 to January 2024.

He has made 21 appearances for the Manchester United this season, scoring 5 goals with 4 assists, and will hope to make a roaring return after the latest setback.
