A Brazilian banker, Ingrid Lalana, 33, also stepped forward with similar allegations, including Rayssa de Freitas, who later dropped her charges.

Manchester United temporarily dropped Antony from the squad to attend to proceedings by Brazil and Manchester Police to the effect of the case.

He traveled to Brazil to answer police queries on the allegation before granting a tearful television interview to assert his innocence.

Back from Brazil to Manchester, Antony attended another police interview by Manchester Police, where he answered queries from the security operatives on the case.

After meeting with Brazil and Manchester Police, Manchester United reintegrated him back into the squad, stating that they would review the club’s decision on the player based on developments on the case.

It has been five months since the saga unfolded with Antony’s career hanging on the balance.

According to the Athletic, the police are still head-on with the investigations on Antony over the assault scandal and will come out with a conclusion soon.

Both the Brazilian and Manchester Police are said to be on top of the case and will soon decide whether to press charges or not.

Meanwhile, Antony has not been himself since the saga unfolded. He has made 22 appearances for Manchester United this season with no goal or assist.

It is believed the off-field issues must have contributed immensely to his slack in form and dwindling fortunes at Old Trafford.
