“We Won’t Pay €1m Bail Fee For Alves,” – Neymar’s Family Reacts

Neymar’s family have stated that they will not pay the €1m bail fee asked from Dani Alves by Spanish judges, MySportDab reports.

Dani Alves, who had previously had his several requests for bail turned down, finally had his way after his legal representatives successfully proved he was not a flight risk if granted bail.

After being sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail, he was finally granted bail but at the sum of €1m.

The Brazil football icon had reportedly gone bankrupt in the course of the trial and had to rely on the financial support of friends and close relatives to sail through the legal proceedings.

Particularly, Neymar’s family were the most supportive, lending their legal representative to defend Alves in court and also paying the €150,000 compensation ordered by the court to the rape victim.

After Dani Alves was finally granted a €1m bail, it was thought Neymar’s family would step in to secure the bail for the former footballer by paying the €1m financial clause.

Now, Neymar’s father, Neymar Sr., has come out to disassociate his family from the case.

In a statement on behalf of his family on Thursday, Neymar Sr. noted that they financially supported Alves during his trial, but that they won’t do it again.

“For us, for my family, this matter is over. Full stop,” he said.

He also added his decision to withdraw from the case follows the ruling of the court against Dani Alves, and his resolve to keep his family away from the case amidst speculations linking them to it.

“With the Spanish court ruling for his conviction, there’s speculation and an attempt to associate my name and my son’s to a matter that is not within our reach any longer,”

The 40-year-old Alves was sentenced to four years, and six months in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.
