Chiamaka Nnadozie Nominated for French Women’s League Goalkeeper Award

Nigeria and Paris FC goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Season award as the French women’s topflight unveils players in different award categories to mark the end of the campaign.

The nominations for the 2023/2024 season were announced on Monday, adding anticipation to the climax of the season with just two games to go.

Nnadozie will face stiff competition from Lyon’s Christiane Ender and PSG’s Katarzyna Kierdrzynek for the prestigious prize.

Since her move to France in 2020, the 23-year-old has established herself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.

Her exceptional performance has earned her recognition as the leading penalty specialist, boasting the highest number of saves from the spot among elite goalkeepers in both men and women’s top leagues since the start of the 2023/24 season.

Nnadozie has showcased her skills by making seven spot-kick saves, with two in the league and an impressive five in her club’s remarkable run in the Women’s Champions League.

Moreover, Nnadozie’s nomination for the Revelation of The Season award highlights her growing influence in the league. Alongside her Paris FC teammate Louna Ribadeira and PSG’s Thiniba Samoura, she is in contention for the prestigious accolade.

With her impressive 70.8% save percentage and prowess in penalty saves, stopping two out of three penalty kicks she faced this season, Nnadozie stands out among her peers.

Her proficiency in this area sets her apart, making her a strong contender for the Goalkeeper of the Season award.

The Super Falcons’ number one has displayed remarkable growth since winning the Bruno Martini Award for Goalkeeping Revelation of the Season in the French top flight three years ago.

Her consistent performance and contribution to Paris FC’s success have solidified her status as one of the top goalkeepers in women’s football.

Nnadozie’s stellar achievements also include being named the CAF Women’s goalkeeper of the year, further cementing her reputation as a standout talent on the international stage.
