Manchester United manager Erin ten Hag has ruled out United from the likelihood of staging a challenge for the Premier League title next season, MySportDab reports.
The Dutch gaffer, who has been under pressure for United’s poor campaign this season, said the team lacks depth to challenge for the coveted club trophy in the England next season.
Speaking ahead of Man United’s Premier League tie against Burnley, ten Hag insists United will need more reinforcement in the summer if they are to pull a more solid performance next season.
He added that clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Aston Villa, will also wage battle for the finer slots in the league, hence the need for Man United to enforce
In a quote shared by LIVEHEREWEGO, he said;
“It is not a two-horse or three horse in the Premier League anymore. There is Villa. There is Spurs. There is Newcastle. Chelsea don’t forget them… They are all competing for top four and we are one of them, but we are not in this moment, in a position to compete for number one or two. That is fact. But I think we can come closer if we have a good window.”
Ten Hag’s comment came days after he absolved himself of any blame in United’s footballing misforunes this season.
According to him, injuries have not allowed him to pick his best squad for a long stretch, making it difficult to effectively pull a consistently better going in the league.
While recurrent injuries has grounded Manchester United campaign this season, some United fans believe the Dutch has not done enough to manage the crisis and cannot be exonerated from blame.
His Burnley prematch press conference, ruling United out of the race for the Premier League title next season, has also been met with criticisms with fans tearing into the Dutch for turning a doomsday prophet instead of finding solutions.

So far, it has been a disappointing campaign for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag this season with reports he could be shown the exit door at the end of the season. However, his future has yet been decided with all fingers crossed or Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s next move.
