Barcelona are still keeping tabs on the LaLiga title race following a narrow 1-0 victory over Cadiz in LaLiga on Saturday, MySportDab reports.
Joao Felix’s first-half goal was all the Catalans needed to secure all three points and close the gap on Real Madrid at the top to eight points.
They needed a win against Cadiz to keep tabs on the race with seven matches left to wrap up the season.
The visitors got off the game very well with a dominant spell of possession but it was still a tricky affair.
Cadiz, buoyed by a roaring home crowd, were constant threats when charging forward, despite struggling to match the visitors’ dominant display.
At the half-hour, it was still goalless with both sides squandering a series of clearcut chances.
Seven minutes after the half-hour, Barcelona finally got on the scoresheet through Atletico Madrid loanee Joao Felix.
The Portuguese attacking midfielder recorded his seventh LaLiga goal for Barcelona to send the away side into the lead.
Going down by a lone goal, Cadiz began to brave out of their low block, committing more bodies forward to find an equaliser, all to no avail as Barcelona led with Joao Felix’s lone goal at the break.
The second half was no different as both sides filed out for the last 45 minutes of the game.
Barcelona continued on their dominant performance but could not add to the score tally. Cadiz maintained their attacking threats but failed to find the equaliser.
With a few minutes left to play, Barcelona’s failed attempt to secure the lead with another goal nearly backfired when the hosts made a late push to find an equaliser but fell out of luck.
The Catalans finally secured all three points after the final whistle to keep up the pressure on Real Madrid at the top.
