The encounter was a must-win for the Champions who before the match were four points behind Arsenal who beat Spurs.
Nottingham Forest made themselves uneasy to break down by the visitors who kept pressing so much trying the break down their defense as things carried on.
It wasn’t easy for Manchester City who continued to put in more effort which saw them coming close on some occasions but nothing was working out.
The deadlock was broken in the 32nd minute after Kevin de Bruyne set up Joško Gvardiol who was able to finish off making sure things became 0-1.
Manchester City headed for the break with a 0-1 advantage and Nottingham Forest had nothing to do from their end to get themselves level.
The second half resumed with more being played mostly for the home side who wanted to attempt to get the leveler.

Nottingham Forest lost focus and Erling Haaland was there to make them pay after another assist from Kevin de Bruyne which the Norwegian made it count 0-2 in the 71st minute.
Enough was seen with nothing much coming as Manchester City ended up taking all three points from a 0-2 victory against Nottingham Forest who gave them a good run but could hold them from winning the encounter.
