Another promising United Academy starlet Jack Kingdon has earned his call-up to Manchester United’s first team, MySportDab reports.

The Scotland youth player has been on a roaring form for Manchester United U18 and has earned the plaudits of United manager Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff.

Playing as a defender, Kingdon, 18, has made 14 League appearances for Manchester United U18 and has played a key role in the team’s rise to the top of the England Youth League.

He has two goals to his credit and has been lauded for his flair for attacking play despite being on the farthest role from goal among the outfield players.

According to Manchester Evening News, Kingdon was called upon by Erik ten Hag into Manchester United first-team training ahead of the game against Bournemouth.

Save his standout performances for United youth, the 18-year-old’s promotion has been linked to the plague of injuries that has ravaged Man United this season.

United’s defence department has been the worst-hit in the club’s unprecedented injury blows this season which has seen all outfield players, except Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho, sidelined 53 times.

Ahead of the game against Bournemouth, Erik ten Hag confirmed United have suffered a double injury blow in the defence again with Evans and Raphael Varane ruled out.

The duo’s injury has left the Dutch with depleted defensive options as the league enters crucial stages, hence the move to pluck the loophole by bringing on Jack Kingdon.

Kingdon will be the second defender that has earned promotion to United’s first-team under ten Hag after Willy Kambwala.
