Mohamed Salah clashed with his manager Jurgen Klopp during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, April 27, MySportDab reports.
The pair were caught in a boiling verbal row when the Egyptian forward was about to be brought on in the game for Luis Diaz.
While the Stadium camera effectively captured the footage, details of the heated verbal exchange were subsumed in the cacophony of voices and echo in the stadium.
What they actually said to each other was not audible, hence the cause of the fallout could not be easily deciphered.
Now, according to a source close to Liverpool’s dressing room, Mohamed Salah’s reluctant acceptance of Jurgen Klopp’s handshake during the game was at the heart of the fallout.
It is understood Klopp usually has a handshake and a short conversation with his substitutes when they are about to be subbed on in any match.
When Salah was about to be subbed on, he was seen extending his hand to the player for a handshake. The Reds’ legend initially appeared to ignore him before taking the handshake reluctantly.
The gesture apparently unnerved Klopp who began to lash out at the player, who also fired back at the German before Darwin Nunez intervened.
The report from the source added Salah has been unhappy at the club for his reduced minutes, and his misfortunes contributed to his rage towards Klopp.
“Salah has not been happy that he is on the bench. He firstly ignored Jurgen Klopp’s handshake before reluctantly taking it.
“That is why they fell out with each other,” the source said, as culled from The Sun.
The source also confirmed Salah and Klopp are set for their first meeting on Tuesday, April 30, when the team will be back to training after their two days off.
Jurgen Klopp tried to keep things under the wraps after incident, saying he had spoken to Salah and resolved issues in the dressing room after the game.
However, Salah dropped a bombshell reply on the incident when prompted by a reporter. The 32-year-old said he will not speak because if he speaks, there will be fire.
