Xavi Set To Make U-turn On Barcelona Exit!

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is reportedly set to make a U-turn on his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, MySportDab reports.

Mid-way through the season in January, Xavi announced he will be stepping down from his role as Barcelona manager at the end of the season.

The legendary culer cited the immense pressure that has tanked up on him and the unceasing media backlash as reasons for his decision.

He added he needed time away from the job to safeguard his mental health and also share close moments with his family.

Xavi announced his exit decision when Barcelona were struggling in LaLiga this season. The team lost the momentum to defend the LaLiga title and were miles away from arch-domestic rivals Real Madrid.

Now, it appears the club have regained the spark with an 11-match unbeaten run since January. They are second on the LaLiga table and have qualified to the last 8 of the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta had been intent on keeping Xavi after the end of this season despite the latter’s exit decision.

Laporta revealed he has been in talks with the former player-turned-manager to have him change his heart.

It appears Laporta’s effort is yielding results as Spanish outlet Sport claims Xavi is considering making a U-turn on his previous decision to leave at the end of the season.

The report adds the Spaniard wants ‘specific project guarantees’ from Barcelona before he changes his mind.

Meanwhile, there has been growing confidence in the Barcelona boardroom on the capacity of the 44-year-old continue on the reins as manager beyond this season.

Xavi bowed to pressure in January announcing his imminent exit but could now stay on after the season if Barcelona agrees to his demand for a well-laid-out long-term project plan.
