Arsenal goalkeeper David has been confirmed winner of the 2023/24 Premier League Golden Glove award following an impressive debut campaign with Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal, MySportDab.

David Raya beat the likes of Jordan Pickford of Everton, Bernd Leno of Fulham, and Ederson of Manchester City to clinch the coveted award.

The Spanish-born shot-stopper poled 14 clean sheets in 29 Premier League appearances for the Gunners to ace the award.

Jordan Pickford was the closest of the other contenders for the award, having recorded 12 clean sheets for Everton.

The England goalkeeper would have stayed in the race for the coveted goalkeeper award if Everton had not conceded a goal in their last Premier League match against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Friday, May 3.

After the Luton match, Everton has two games left to wrap up the season. Should Pickford pick up clean sheets in the two remaining games, he would only match David Raya’s tally.

Based on the rules of the award, Raya who reached the tally first is due winner in case of a tie at the end of the season. Nevertheless, David Raya has three more goals to extend his record.

He is the second Arsenal goalkeeper since 2016 to win the award after Petr Cech won the award.

David Raya’s Golden Glove Award has been seen as a vindication of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who kept faith in the 28-year-old despite the latter’s mistakes.

Arteta dropped England goalie Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal’s starting eleven for Raya, insisting the Brentford loanee has it takes to man the first-team role for the Gunners.
