England national team manager Gareth Southgate has named his provisional England squad for the 2024 Euros in Germany, MySportDab reports.

The Three Lions finished as runners-up in the last edition of the quadrennial tournament in 2020, losing on penalties to Italy.

Southgate, who has been tasked with nothing less than a triumph going into the tournament, has now rolled out his roster for the provisional squad ahead of the tournament.

As expected, Liverpool and England legend Jordan Henderson is leading the list of big names that have been axed out of the squad.

Henderson has been a regular in the Three Lions squad in the past decade but has now faced the end of his international career following his omission from the list.

The Ajax midfielder’s omission has been linked to his ill-fated move to Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

Just five months into the move, he terminated his contract and returned to Europe where he pitched ten with Ajax in the Dutch elite division – a decision that was linked to his attempt to secure his place in the England squad.

Meanwhile, Southgate still prioritized the prolific midfielder despite his Saudi move and included him in his squad for the last international break.

However, his lack of game time and dwindling fortunes since moving to Ajax is believed to have forced Southgate to part ways with the English football legend.

Liverpool star Curtis Jones will be expected to step into his shoes as the Three Lions prepare for the continental showpiece.

Chelsea duo Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are the other two big names that have been confirmed left out by Gareth Southgate with the pair likely coming to the end of their International career.
